Female Sneaker Fiends Are Taking Over!

We knew Mafia since back in the day. In fact, if you look on the FSF forums, she started some of the longest standing posts we have. (Don't believe me? Check out "mo pickups" in the sneaker section--closing in on 300,000 views and over 300 pages!) Back when she was "just" a killer collector, we had her on our fiends page, and now she's got an updated interview in the Women in the Industry section. Why? Cuz she's repping HARD for the females over at Sneaker Freaker. Lead sneaker freaker, Woody, has always been a supporter of FSF and the women's game, but Mafia's taking it up a notch. This week is Ladies Week on the whole site, so look for interviews with Erin Magee of Made Me, Miss Yasi Salek of Cultist, Jee-Nice of Anattitude Mag, and much more, plus some of the hottest women's kicks out there. So I thought I wouldn't be able to make it this weekend, but by the Sneaker God's grace I was able to! And boy was I glad! This outlet isn't bad! There were alot of hot styles to choose from for very good prices! I got 2 pair and my sweetie got himself 2 pair as well!! The line was long as heck because everyone was going back making their final decision while on line! The aisles are kinda tight, but when hunting for kicks, anything goes! And for those that didn't have the 40% off coupon like me..they were kinda tight when they saw my purchase go from $150 to $90!!! I told you FETTi got the hookup!! The boutique I mentioned earlier, X Squared, is now open on Newbury Street. It's brand-spanking new, so the staff were real honest about a few growing pains, but it's definitely worth a look. Good product (and a commitment to grow their as-yet-unremarkable women's selection), nice people and no attitude... It's a mix of streetwear, upscale Euro-friendly and high tech, which means it may attract a fun, funky mix, not just hard core sneakerheads. But you know, we do get out sometimes and mix it up with the regular folk!

(Off topic: Congrats to our very own Sneaker Design School Gal for finishing her project! It sounds GREAT. Send us more pics! And did y'all catch her in Sneaker Freaker #12? Louise Millard. Heat on top of heat...)

DONE DID IT! sneaker design school

Finally finished and made it to my hand-in yesterday. Yet again it was slammed down in the final minute buzzing with adrenaline- I was awake for a straight 52 hours and had more than a couple tantrums but I bloody did!
My hand-in had to be set up as an exhibition- I have a private view on 29th May (if'd you'd like to come have a look email me and I'll send you details), pictures of this will follow.
So, I had two finished trainers, complete with boxes designed around how the consumer would be using the product, a beaut of a portfolio, matching garments, promotional photos (these'll make you blush!), mood boards, fabric and leather samples with the prints I designed, the fattest sketchbook I've ever produced and a hundred other thing's I'm still too tired to remember.
It truly has been an emotional journey and I'm gonna be hibernating for a couple days.
After that it's into the big wide world and job hunting. Anyone wanna help out on that?
