New Flava for your ear: Shades by Phlo Finister

Check out Bay area/London resident stylist turned singer Phlo Finister song called "Shades". As you can tell by the song it has a Aaliyah/90's Timberland style to it hence her video. Which pays homage to the princess of R&B Aaliyah. If you like this track download Phlo's EP Crown Royal here: www.PhloFinister.com

New Flava for your ear: Grow up-Ida Divine

I first got put on to Miss Ida Divine from the homie RoyalTee when he and Ida opened for Raekwon a few months ago. Now I can't stop playing her ish! Her song "Grow Up" has a little Lauren Hill element to it but it still sticks with Ida's original style. Check it out...

Who is Kandi Cole?

That's a very good question. Being that I just got put on to her today, I really don't know much about her. But what I do know is that she is a Los Angeles native and is one of the few talent out there that is bringing something different to the table. She kind of reminds me of Queen Latifah during her time in the Native Tongues Posse. Kandi is definitely about that female empowerment and really brings back that true hip hop element

Kandi has a album out tittled "Happy Birthday Kandi Cole" which is available on her site www.kandicole.com Also check out her full length songs (shame on you imeem!!) on myspace. More music posts soon..

Get up on it

Ever since the M.I.S.S. crew feature was put up on Empire Isis, I couldn't stop listening to her. My favorite song from has got to be "Get up on it". The song meaning is if you're about goals, stick to them, don't hang around people who aren't about anything; they will just bring you down. Ain't that the truth!!! That's why this song gets serious play on my ipod.

Get Up On It - Empire ISIS

Thanks M.I.S.S crew for putting me on!!

It's time for a music post!!!

Yes it's about that time to start jammin on the 1 again. I know I have been slacking, but I'm gonna make it up to y'all. So this week's music post goes to (drumroll)... Brittnay Bosco!!! Her sound is a very unique one. It's like listening to an old school jazz record with a hint of J. Dilla-- it's just bananas!! Not only can she sing, but she has a nice kick game too. Check her out.....

Miss Bosco's album "Spectrum" is out now and is available here.

I'm sure you all have dreamed of doing this...

cause I have lol. And yes that is Santigold in case you were wondering.
