MAYA MOORE AIR JORDAN AND JORDAN BRAND PE

WNBA's Maya Moore of the Minnesota Lynx is living hoop dreams and then some.  The 23 year old has a league title, an Olympic gold medal, two national championship rings and is a member of Team Jordan......Oh, did I mention she also wears the number 23!

Nike decided to bless Maya with her own PE version of the Air Jordan XXIII(23), with colors and features paying tribute to her achievements.  And PE versions of the Jordan Aero Manias in 3 home and 3 away versions.  Here's a bit of what Nike said in their press release: "The number 23 is synonymous with the Jordan Brand thanks to MJ, but today, 23 belongs to Maya Moore. After a summer that yielded a championship in China while averaging over 41 points and ten boards per game, Moore returns home for her third season in Minnesota. She wears the number 23, is now 23 years old, and as a member of Team Jordan (23), it’s only right that she hits the court in player exclusive Air Jordan XX3s to start the season."

I must say, this is one of the best pairs of PE's that I've seen in a long time.  A big congrats to Maya for her great accomplishments.  Being an awesome professional athlete at such a young age, there's more greats to come.

What about Maya Moore's sneaker?

With Maya Moore being the first female basketball player signed to Jordan Brand, this could be a big deal in women's Jordans! Like Jeter, Wade, Melo, and other athletes signed to Jordan Brand, there has to be a signature shoe that encompasses Maya's personality, style, and performance on the court. I've spoken with a few of the ladies here at FSF, and we agree that it would be appropriate if FSF combined our talents together to create a Jordan sneaker with both Maya and FSF'ers around the world in mind!

That being said, tomorrow is media day for the Minnesota Lynx and there will be an online interactive chat session with Maya and the other players from the Lynx! THIS IS OUR CHANCE TO BE HEARD FSF!! Let's make it a combined effort to let Jordan Brand know that WE WANT IN on the signature sneaker designed for Maya! Visit these sites LYNX BASKETBALL LYNX TWITTER and LYNX FACEBOOK tomorrow from 10:30am - 1pm and ask WILL FEMALE SNEAKER FIEND BE DESIGNING HER SIGNATURE SNEAKER? along with any other questions you may want to ask! THIS IS OUR CHANCE LADIES!!! Let's show our support and push the movement forward!!!

Maya Moore signed as 1st Jordan Brand Female Athlete

Jordan Brand Signs Basketball Standout Maya Moore

Official Press Release:

Record-Setting Champion Joins Jordan Brand Roster as First Female Basketball Athlete

BEAVERTON, Ore.–Today, Jordan Brand, a division of NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE), announced the signing of Maya Moore, two-time NCAA Women’s Basketball National Champion and college basketball’s all-time leader in games won as a player. One of the most decorated athletes in the history of collegiate sports, Moore becomes the first female basketball player to join the Jordan Brand.

“Not only has Maya proven to be a prolific winner on the court, but her hunger and determination to make an impact off the court makes her a valuable addition to the Jordan family. We look forward to working with Maya as she carries her success to the next level.”

Recognized as one of the greatest collegiate women’s basketball players to ever play, Moore led the University of Connecticut Huskies to back-to-back NCAA titles in 2009 and 2010. During her tenure at UCONN, she re-wrote college basketball’s record books by leading the Huskies to a 150-4 record, including an NCAA Division I basketball record 90-game win streak.

“I am thrilled to welcome Maya Moore into the Jordan Brand,” said Michael Jordan. “Not only has Maya proven to be a prolific winner on the court, but her hunger and determination to make an impact off the court makes her a valuable addition to the Jordan family. We look forward to working with Maya as she carries her success to the next level.”

Boasting numerous career accolades which includes earning two National Player of the Year awards (2010, 2011), three Academic All-American awards (2009-2011), four National All-American awards (2008-11), and most recently being named the top overall pick in the 2011 WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx, the 6’0” forward will join a renowned lineup of Jordan Brand athletes highlighted by Derek Jeter, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Andre Johnson among others.

“As a student of the game, it is a dream come true to align myself with a brand that has a rich history in sports,” said Maya Moore. “Like most kids, I grew up idolizing Michael Jordan and continue to work relentlessly to reach his iconic status on the court. I’m truly motivated to take my career to the next level as a member of Team Jordan.”

Go Maya!! And Jordan Brand, can you actually put a little advertising behind these? No one can ever find Taurasi's or Swoopes or any other female signature basketball shoe by Nike...

Sister 2 Sister Footwear Design Seminar RECAP!!!

It was a great weekend in Boston! Nearly 20 females from NYC & Boston participated in this 1st ever, historic event! Ranging from girls still in HS & college, to customizers, & experienced designers, we all came together sharing our love of kicks & learned from some of the best female designers in the industry! Lori got together with D'Wayne Edwards of Jordan Brand, as well as top women designers from Sperry Top Sider, Reebok, Puma, Converse, and Nike to make this special event happen.

We started off with introductions & sketching what our vision of our very own sneakers would look like, and we couldn't use logos or similarities from existing brands. As a customizer I truly thought the process wasn't too tedious since I already design, but on already put together sneakers. I was wrong! My initial sketch had the shape of a griffey max and it really wasn't what I was aiming for. However, with some help from the designers, I was able to create a better form for the sneaker as well as details like piping, canvas and textured leather!

Each presentation was as unique as the participant behind it! We all took on a foreign task and came out on top!

Thank you to all of the designers who took their time out for us and shared priceless technique and tips! Welcome Sarah Sabino aka "S4" to our Boston team, and a very special extra thanks goes to you Lori for always representing & being a voice for the ladies!
