A small tribute

I felt tremendously grateful to be in New York City on Thursday. The outpouring of love for Michael Jackson was tremendous. The Apollo still has a 24/7 tribute going for the King of Pop, and every radio station, car and party paid tribute in any way they could all weekend long. It was a beautiful recognition of MJ, from a city that knew him well. As people of all ages wrestled with the suddenness of his death, and argued with folks bent on balancing the brilliance of his gift with the troubles of his past, I saw the similarities between MJ and NYC. You can find fault in either, but they've both shaped the world in ways too powerful and amazing to ignore. R. I. P. Michael.
