HTM Flyknit drop #3

This July, Nike releases its third installment of the HTM Flyknit collection. HTM, the ongoing collaboration between style leader and Fragment Design Founder Hiroshi Fujiwara, Nike design legend Tinker Hatfield and Nike Inc. CEO and designer Mark Parker, celebrates the groundbreaking performance attributes of a new technology that changes the way footwear is constructed.

Since 2002, these three designers have worked together to amplify new innovations, reinterpret existing designs, and explore concepts that take the brand to new places.

Pushing the boundaries of Nike Flyknit technology by showcasing the aesthetic possibilities of fabrics, colors and patterns, this third collection features a refreshed series of color ways.  Releasing as a collection of six unique color ways, the HTM Trainer+ is woven into four classic solids, Black, Blue, Volt, and bold Red, embellished with the swoosh mark on the back heel.  Two additional styles from the collection feature a multi-colored upper that is the result of the yarns from the classic solids coming together through multiple weave variations.  This approach allows for varying hues to combine into an intricate variation of textured patterns producing a bold heathered upper that exhibits the precision and complexity of knit technology. Made complete with Nike’s signature Lunarlon cushioning system, the HTM Trainer+ is finished with a sleek white Lunarlon sole that ties the collection together.

Launching first on July 26th at Nike’s 1948 location in London, the third release of the HTM Flyknit Collection in all six color ways will be available in limited quantities at select Nike retail locations globally. Please visit www.nikestadiums.com for more information on specific release dates (late August here in the US).

BAITxAsics Ring Pack

At a time when the world comes together to support their country in the Olympics, Asics and BAIT team up for an exclusive, eye-catching celebration of the world’s ultimate athletic exhibition. The Asics x BAIT Ring Pack introduces a limited collection of five unique shoes inspired by the Olympic Games’ world-famous ring logo. Each individual shoe is inspired by one of the five rings; the collection as a whole only employs the colors of the logo plus the basic white and grey for good measure. The pack takes Asics’ classic runners and sews in innovative designs and materials, resulting in a set of sneakers unlike anything that Asics has offered. The five shoes are woven together by common use of two features: the reflective 3M accents and the metallic, gold medal-themed insole. The pack is designed for the true sneaker fan with the highest quality materials and fresh new styles.

The first two shoes that will drop by the end of this week are the “Blue Ring” and the “Yellow Ring.”
*The Olympic Rings Pack is available for sale on July 26th 9PM PST (12AM EST) only at BAITme.com. This is your only chance to guarantee all 5 colors of the Olympic Rings Pack, as we have set aside a limited number of this pre-pack for the launch. If you are lucky enough to purchase the Pre-Pack; BAIT will ship out the Blue, Yellow, and Red shoes immediately, with the remaining two colors (Black & Green) to ship Mid-August. All pre-pack purchases will come with a complimentary BAIT x GoodWood bracelet and a BAIT hat.  Limited quantity of Blue Ring and Yellow Ring shoes will also be available for sale at the same time.

*PRICING - Yellow, Blue, Green and Red Ring shoes are $130.00.  Black Ring is $140.00.  Limited Edition 5-Shoe Pack is $660.00 (comes with complimentary BAIT x GoodWood bracelet and BAIT hat)

Sneakerbox hits Boston!

Sneakerbox, the traveling sneaker truck, is "fresh out the box"! The brainchild of Tiffany Crews and Angela Schipano, Sneakerbox just launched this month in Boston. It was hatched when they worked closely together as retail managers on Newbury Street and found common ground through their passion for sneakers. Working long overnight shifts and waiting in long lines for new releases sparked discussion of making a passion into a business. With a pen, paper and an iPad, Sneakerbox was born. Inspired by their extensive retail experience and their passion for kicks, Tiffany and Angela mapped out a plan to provide urban neighborhoods with products that are fresh out of the box— Sneakerbox that is.

Sneakerbox is part of a retail culture that seeks to innovate the recycled idea of “brick and mortar” sneaker retailing. Simply put—think of a food truck minus the food and throw in the kicks and apparel. Tiffany and Angela, representing female sneakerheads of the world, will provide the streets with the first woman-owned rolling retail street wear concept in Boston. This fashion forward model allows them to reach a variety of customers, catering to both men and women, and provide the freshest in street fashion.

To find out more about the Sneakerbox truck, check their site or Facebook page. Soon I'll be meeting them in person (they are reppin' the Bean after all), and I'll feature an interview so you can hear about their first month in their own words...  You go girls!

Balling on the 4th--Crazy Light 2s

I do play ball on Wednesdays and tomorrow will be no exception. While I'm actually balling in my Bulls colorway adizero Crazy Lights 2s, I'm thinking this Olympic colorway is the crispest I've seen in a minute...

They dropped yesterday and are available (down to a men's 6) at Eastbay, Dick's Sporting Goods and adidas.com.  Happy 4th! (Don't wear 'em to a BBQ tho!)

Sole Connections Event Recap

Erica Purnell, aka Pinkeye, heading into the Sole Connections event...

The highlight of the event for me was the new documentary by Bobbito Garcia and Kevin Coulieau (spelling?) about pick-up basketball in NYC. Just incredible footage and videos! And they did not sleep on the ladies... =)

Amanda Yoakum of Yoakustoms got busy customizing at the event..

Pinkeye (above) and Fetti D'Biasi (below) held it down as always. These girls can paint!

Gotta love sneakers made from pipecleaners!

Toofly did a beautiful piece as always!
Nitty Scott tore it up too! The ladies were definitely reppin...

FSF founder Lori Lobenstine telling it like it is with the Don't Sleep on the Ladies iphone case!

Many thanks to Sam del Pilar and the whole Sneakers 4 Success crew for having us there! The whole thing was truly a testament to their vision and positive energy...

For more photos, check out Pinkeye's facebook album of the event.

If you missed the showing of Doin It In the Park, check their facebook page for more showings...

Rant: Don't blame Nike, Blame yourself!

Since last week I've been seeing Air Yeezy 2 talk run up and down my twitter timeline. Most of the Air Yeezy 2 banter was from disgruntled hype-beasts that were pressed because of  limited store release, twitter RSVP's from Nike's 21 Mercer St location, and "rape" prices for these shoes from stores. Since all these people complaining about how Nike is taking a different approach from its previous hyped up releases, did anyone stop and think that "Maybe I'm apart of the problem?" Yes I went there, so un-clutch those pearls. Think about it, If people had better tact when release day hits, there would be no need for twitter rsvp's and so forth. Also, Nike isn't the only brand out there people!! Stop acting like Nike is the end all be all of sneakers. Oh and this next one goes for those who spend mad dollars on Nike releases every week, complain about the quality of the shoe and how Nike and these sneaker boutiques rape your pockets every time you cop and still pledge your allegiance to the brand. Here's a thought "Stop buying them !". If all these issues bother you, then stop buying from that brand. Plain and simple. If you don't like how you being treated as a consumer from a brand and or/store, then keep those coins and dollars in your pockets. Brand boycotts do work and has been done before. If there wasn't so many thirsty individuals, you would have no twitter rsvp's, no rape prices and better quality. I'm not anti-Nike or anti sneaker people, I'm just stating the truth.  So the next time a big Nike release comes about, don't blame Nike, blame yourself and all of your thirsty sneaker comrades.
