NIKE ID Opening @ NIKETOWN NYC

Hey Guys... This Is E (Pink Eye) filling in for Lori to post about the Nike ID Opening that went down this past Saturday at Niketown on 57th st, NYC. Unfortunately Lori couldn't make it so Fee, Fetti and myself were in the building reppin FSF always! It was packed for an early morning event but I guess when it comes to NIKE...people will roll out of bed including myself (I'm not a morning person folks lol) The event was hosted by the AF1 King “DJ Clark Kent” and Sway of MTV with special guest such as David Wright, Nigel Sylvester, Corbin Bleu, Alana Beard, Cullen Jones, performance by Lil Mama, Taylor Momsen, Penn Badgley, Chris Bryant, and The Starting Line.

FSF was defintely in the building! Fee had spent some time with WNBA Star of The Mystics, Alana Beard (Interview Coming Soon) I got a chance to meet up with her and she was such a pleasant person. Besides rocking her kicks on the court she told me she was a big sneakerhead loving kicks since she was real young. She was extending herself to her young fans while they ID some kicks on Niketown's design stations upstairs.

We blasted the place with FSF Flyers and got the word out Like we always do. There were a lot of shorties in the place. I loved to see the young faces in the building. Especially the lil' female sneaker fiends :) They got to customize some kicks and color T-Shirts and Show their artistic selves.

The overall event was great though. They had a great buffet of breakfast goodies, Waffles, Fruit, Donuts (yum). Me and Fee got our grub on. And the Design Studio was beautiful I think I could live in there. lol

Aerial Shot from the Fifth Floor of the Event.

They also had a virtual screen outside the Store so you could get a taste of customizing your own kicks before you go in.

So if you missed it, make your appointment!!! Call 212.891.6454 from 10AM-7PM Mon-Fri They have Design Consultants that can help you through the Process!

Thanks Again to The NIKE Staff That Invited Us! We had a Blast!

Much Love

E

Its been a while

Hey guys!!!! I have been missing in action due to some really exciting developments for me on the art and design front, so I had a little bit of time today to check my in box for stuff to post, and mostly I found parties past, but here are a few things.
My friend Jenny's new line Yours truly launched this month, I found an old interview I never posted with Curtis from Dunk Exchange, and a few parties coming up, Like the MISSBEHAVE holloween bash....
Also look out and save the date, November 16th, we are hosting another NYC party for the Girls brand out of Cali, Black Mamba!!! YAY!!!!!!
And as far as shoes go,,,,,,,,damn I have not had a minute to get a singel new pair of kicks,,,, booo hooooo
But what do you all think of the awesome new layout at femalesnaekerfiend.com?

Check out my homie Jenny's new line at yourstruly.com

Here is an interview with curtis brown, one of the founders of dunk exchange he is age 24, and he's taken......

Where are you originally from? I was born in So Cal

How did you come up with the concept for dunk exchange?
I actually didnt come up with the idea, my partner gary came up with the idea because he got ripped on ebay a few times for some fake dunk sbs. So he was at home broke thinkin about what can be done about fakes on ebay and all around and he came up with the idea of doing a show that allows people to see the sneakers themselves. Upclose in person.

Why is it called dunk exchange and not some other model, like force exchange?
The reason it is called the dunxkchange is because the shoe that had my partner was stressing so hard about was the dunk sb so the name is just from the history of the situation.

What can we expect from dunk exchange in the near future?
The dunkxchange just did its 2 year anniversary show in OC. We have it SF, LA/OC, Chicago, NYC, Miami, and Vegas in 2007. In 2008 we are doing a tour with 7 cities per season with the 7th city changing each season(la/oc, sf, chicago, houston, miami, nyc, philly, vegas, dc, boston) we are also working on canada, japan, aus. and europe in 2008.

How big is your sneaker collection?
Well my sneaker collection is cool i got like 400 plus pairs but it help because my step dad works for nike and i own a retail store in so cal called SOLEGER.

what are your favorite pair?
my fav. pair of kicks is going to be my gino 1 sbs. I rock the heck out of them i think the foam in the heal is all gone haha its just a pair i like to rock. I will rock them while i am working on my house or to a nightclub.

Anything you want us all to know about you and dunk exchange?
One thing i need to say to people is that please dont call us asking for our support if you are trying to do a show like ours. We have worked hard to get to where we are at and it sucks that so many people are taking our show and not adding a unique idea to it. I am flattered that the show idea has become what it is but please if you want to do a show make it your own. Also fakes suck and we dont support the people who rock them.

Any shout outs?
shout outs go to all our sponsors for 2007
shmack clothing, orisue, akademiks footwear, triumvir, franco shade, fsf, rebel aire, sneaker pimps, and all the people who come out and support the sneaker community.

kromey's killing it

whether she's zooming in for beautiful close ups on our favorite kicks or zooming out and painting her whole room (!), this nikehead takes her kicks seriously. check her website, kromey.com, for more paintings, photos and sneaker designs (my favorite peek was "SVA 07")

You can also see how her room looks like now that it's finished...

Sneaker Freaker's piece on the women's game

Sneaker Freaker just published their online version of their excellent recent article about the women's sneaker game, "Ain't Nothing but a She Thang". Check it out! It's written by Christine Su from Complex and has some great insights. Oh yea, and a funny picture of me, holding it down for the 70s!

i'm no designer but...

...which one of these is NOT like the others?

Now i'm cool with the dunkxchange, and I think it's a great idea to do an all-female exchange, but now i'm having second thoughts. Is this just a fashionxchange? A big Kendo sale? (which would be cool, too, but...) What makes this a dunkxchange? I don't see any DJs. Any info about girls selling their kicks, having tables, bringing boxes of kicks to trade... I don't even see any kicks! Even if this is a first try, you gotta come with a little more than this! It's about respecting women's game.

EDIT EDIT EDIT: UPDATE! There is a back. Mama found it for me:

So, the good news is, girls can have tables, and for free at that. Sweet. The bad news is "LADIES SIZES ONLY!!!" I guess they don't know that 90% of female sneaker fiends wear primarily youth or men's sneakers. (FSF survey of over 1600 voters.) Well, hopefully they won't be checking at the door! have fun...

Philly is up first!!!

I was surprised on how easy it was to get to Philly. And the bus that you take from China Town NYC is cheap and fast. I really enjoyed Philly, a little more relaxed than NY. And almost all guys had beards. And thank god for Wava. I love those sandwiches!!!And let´s not get me started on the Amish Market, the food there. Oh my god!!!So fresh and soo GOOD.

The whole crew on the bus, heading for Philly and Sneaker Pimps

Me at the food court that I was talking about. Can´t remember the name, but it´s almost right next to the bus station. Yummy!

BIG APE and me at UBIQ. What a store, really nice selctions of sneakers to good prices. And really nice selection of clothes in the back of the store where me and BIG APE decided on to chill for a while. It was cool in there, outside...HOT as H***

We stayed at the Hilton, right next to the venue where Sneaker Pimps were at. Really nice hotell and a kickass breakfast buffe in the morning. Here are the leadies(Me, cessi and Sneaker_Margie), and were getting ready to go out.....

What we were rockin.....

The boys are ready to go out...DEEP, BIG APE and Ben Boogz

Sneaker Pimps Philly

(Anyone know this girls name? I talked to her at both SP Philly&NYC. She sent me a comment on myspace, but I erased it by mistake. I think she works for dunkxchange ..)
We left after an hour and a half, I thought that the Philly event sucked. A lot of people rockin Converse and flipflops. What the f***??There was even rumours that the acts werent gonna show up so we decided to leave. They ended up showing, and played three songs. This event seemed unorganized and hardly no vendors. Thank god for Sneaker Pimps NYC huh?

A little sighseeing

The famous stairs from the movie "Rocky" in the background

Hall of fame! The streets do hear you-Be careful!
