Quit with the double standard already!!

I meant to address this before but it's getting too out of hand, so I have to say something. I'm so over some of you ignorant guys and gals with this whole "if you wear sneakers over the age of 18 you're not a lady" mentality! I mean really, is this not 2011?! Now I expect that weak mentality to come from a weak ass dude but to come from another female? Girl boom let me sock it to you, wearing heels does not make you a lady, taking care of your responsibilities does. Women who work 40 or more hours a week, pay bills, and take care of their family are REAL WOMEN and wearing heels has nothing to do with it! You folks really need to get over this whole sneakers equal immaturity crap! Cause I have met a whole lot of women and men in my life who rock "mature" footwear but do some really immature things. Just because I have a vagina and I'm over 18 doesn't mean I need to only be wearing heels. I'm gonna wear what the hell I like and that happens to be kicks! And that doesn't make me any less of a lady than Michelle Obama! So while you naysayers are being immature with your "grown" footwear, my mature sneaker loving self will remain fly and always a lady!

Flava for your ear: New Kim D mixtape "In my Lane"

Our fellow FSF sistren Miss Kim D just dropped her new mixtape entitled "In my Lane". In my lane is a more personal in depth album but still has the raw Kim D flavor to it. This mixtape really really goes hard!! Great job Kim D! To listen and download "In my Lane" Click the link: http://www.datpiff.com/mixtapes-detail.php?id=233555

Another South Beach colorway done right!

I know this whole "South Beach" trend is tired and has been almost beat to death but the colorway is straight fire on these AM1's designed by Vurus of Germany. Vurus felt inspired by the South Beach Lebron 8's to create on his "Miami Vice" Nike ID am 1's. Check it....

Well done Vurus, well done!!

Sneaker Savage!

Well it's way past 6pm and I'm writing this, so thankfully the world ending today was a falsehood. However, today was special in sneaker culture because SNEAKER SAVAGE happened! Sneaker Savage is the 1st sneaker show in Westchester, NY which has lots of potential to grow in this untapped market! Put together by @mrsneakersavage, it was a day of checking out kicks & apparel from Westchester sneaker lovers and businesses such as 2nd Nature, the only skate shop in Westchester with a full Nike SB account! Being the 1st event of its kind had its downside too..the turnout wasn't as great as expected, but people did show up, which is what mattered! Mr. Savage wants to do more planning for another show sometime this fall, so keep your eyes & ears open for the next show! Check out MORE PICS.

What about Maya Moore's sneaker?

With Maya Moore being the first female basketball player signed to Jordan Brand, this could be a big deal in women's Jordans! Like Jeter, Wade, Melo, and other athletes signed to Jordan Brand, there has to be a signature shoe that encompasses Maya's personality, style, and performance on the court. I've spoken with a few of the ladies here at FSF, and we agree that it would be appropriate if FSF combined our talents together to create a Jordan sneaker with both Maya and FSF'ers around the world in mind!

That being said, tomorrow is media day for the Minnesota Lynx and there will be an online interactive chat session with Maya and the other players from the Lynx! THIS IS OUR CHANCE TO BE HEARD FSF!! Let's make it a combined effort to let Jordan Brand know that WE WANT IN on the signature sneaker designed for Maya! Visit these sites LYNX BASKETBALL LYNX TWITTER and LYNX FACEBOOK tomorrow from 10:30am - 1pm and ask WILL FEMALE SNEAKER FIEND BE DESIGNING HER SIGNATURE SNEAKER? along with any other questions you may want to ask! THIS IS OUR CHANCE LADIES!!! Let's show our support and push the movement forward!!!

Maya Moore signed as 1st Jordan Brand Female Athlete

Jordan Brand Signs Basketball Standout Maya Moore

Official Press Release:

Record-Setting Champion Joins Jordan Brand Roster as First Female Basketball Athlete

BEAVERTON, Ore.–Today, Jordan Brand, a division of NIKE, Inc. (NYSE:NKE), announced the signing of Maya Moore, two-time NCAA Women’s Basketball National Champion and college basketball’s all-time leader in games won as a player. One of the most decorated athletes in the history of collegiate sports, Moore becomes the first female basketball player to join the Jordan Brand.

“Not only has Maya proven to be a prolific winner on the court, but her hunger and determination to make an impact off the court makes her a valuable addition to the Jordan family. We look forward to working with Maya as she carries her success to the next level.”

Recognized as one of the greatest collegiate women’s basketball players to ever play, Moore led the University of Connecticut Huskies to back-to-back NCAA titles in 2009 and 2010. During her tenure at UCONN, she re-wrote college basketball’s record books by leading the Huskies to a 150-4 record, including an NCAA Division I basketball record 90-game win streak.

“I am thrilled to welcome Maya Moore into the Jordan Brand,” said Michael Jordan. “Not only has Maya proven to be a prolific winner on the court, but her hunger and determination to make an impact off the court makes her a valuable addition to the Jordan family. We look forward to working with Maya as she carries her success to the next level.”

Boasting numerous career accolades which includes earning two National Player of the Year awards (2010, 2011), three Academic All-American awards (2009-2011), four National All-American awards (2008-11), and most recently being named the top overall pick in the 2011 WNBA draft by the Minnesota Lynx, the 6’0” forward will join a renowned lineup of Jordan Brand athletes highlighted by Derek Jeter, Dwyane Wade, Carmelo Anthony, Chris Paul and Andre Johnson among others.

“As a student of the game, it is a dream come true to align myself with a brand that has a rich history in sports,” said Maya Moore. “Like most kids, I grew up idolizing Michael Jordan and continue to work relentlessly to reach his iconic status on the court. I’m truly motivated to take my career to the next level as a member of Team Jordan.”

Go Maya!! And Jordan Brand, can you actually put a little advertising behind these? No one can ever find Taurasi's or Swoopes or any other female signature basketball shoe by Nike...

Andra Williams interview on FSF

Some folks think that females are getting out of the game, but quite to the contrary: I keep hearing about new female sneaker fiend websites! The latest that came to my attention is KICKmySOLE, designed and hosted by the talented duo of Andra Williams and Camille Bowers.

We caught up with Andra Williams this week. What qualifies this fiend to run her own site? Well, for starters it's commitment--she's been in the game for a minute and she knows her kicks. And for seconds, she's got the swag and attitude. Here's a sneak peak into the interview:

"One thing mainly is of course because I am 34 years young, many have said I should think about stopping buying kicks by now. In my rebuttal I say, 'You should start thinking about minding your own business now!'"

Nike is looking for a female sneaker fiend!

Nike Sportswear is hunting for a new Global Product Line Manager for women’s footwear, and they’ve come to femalesneakerfiend to find one... Could it be you?

Do you…

  • read enough blogs and magazines to know footwear trends for the USA and world market?
  • have the confidence to manage consumer focus groups, really listen to what girls want, and represent them at key events?
  • have the passion to help define the market place and propose a complete product line that will grab the attention of women across the globe?
  • have the people skills to ensure integration between Footwear, Apparel and Equipment?
  • have the brains, drive and commitment to jump feet first into this job, learn quickly and work your butt off to make NSW even better?
  • Have the sense of adventure to move to Portland AND to travel around the US and world up to 25% of the time?

If you want to work for Nike, you can't be shy about it, you can’t be humble about it, you have to go for it and go hard. Passion is contagious and undeniable; you can't fake it and you can't learn it. Somebody might have more experience or a higher degree, but do you have more knowledge about women and kicks? More drive, flair, humor and hustle? If you are serious, if you are genuinely interested in this opportunity, then follow the link below, and tell ‘em you’re a female sneaker fiend!

Sneaker Wish List

After my last sneaker purchase which was the Made Me Vans, I fell back into a sneaker drought. But that's all about to change in a few weeks. My sneaker wish list for the spring/summer season are both Jordan releases, the Alarming Red AJ5(drops May 7th) and the Wolf Grey AJ5(drops May 14th). Being a non Jordan head I really surprised myself when I put these on my list. Its something about that AJ5 that gets a girl weak! Hopefully I save some more coins by Friday.

Throwback track: Zulu War Chant-Africa Bambaataa

Love this tune! This Africa Bambaataa track is on my sneaker shopping motivation playlist lol.

Malice of The Clipse book signing in The Bronx!

Of course I had to come out and support literacy in the urban community! I brought along my latest design for a client who wants to create more urban awareness of Autism. Check out the video!
