Fringuese features FSF

My Ewing Swatts and part of my collection, as featured in Fringuese

I hadn't heard of Fringuese before, but that's not surprising since it's a hot new "fashion blogzine covering the latest trends in fashion, style, beauty and lifestyle." For those of you who know me, sneakers are the only element of fashion I pay attention to. Of course sneakers have been on more than a few women's fashion blogs of late due to the popularity of "wedge sneakers." Founder Alexandra Phanor-Faury caught up with me and asked me about my feelings about these oh-so-popular wedge sneakers, so I weighed in. We also had a fun chat about all things female sneaker fiend. I could tell we had an ally in the fashion world! You can read the piece and weigh in with your perspective here.

Sneakerbox Truck Interview

On Wednesday I had the pleasure of catching up with Angela Schipano (left) and Tiff Crews (right), the fast-moving women who run Boston's Sneakerbox Truck. It's the only female-owned sneaker truck that I know of, so I felt especially lucky to have it in Boston. While chilling and interviewing them inside the truck, we had a constant stream of curious passers-by. Did our team do some quick business? Nope. Boston hasn't yet figured out how to license "fashion trucks," so these ladies are doing the right thing, working with the city, and limited to street sales from 8pm on and special events. Man, that's gotta hurt! But they're upbeat. Here's what they had to say...

FSF: What's been your favorite event so far this summer?
Tiff: It was definitely Arts in the Park. That was all about bringing the culture together--spoken word, graffiti, sneakers, hip hop, it was all there.
Angela: It was definitely our kind of crowd, and they loved the Truck!

(Note: Arts in the Park is happening in Cambridge this weekend and the Truck will be there...)

FSF:  What's been surprising for you all so far?
Tiff: So many things! In a business aspect, the amount of patience you have to have when you're starting a business. Working with the city, it's amazing how long it's taken to get a "fashion truck" permit.

FSF: What's kept  you motivated through it all?
Angela: The consumers love it! They go crazy. Being out with our customers keeps us going.
Tiff: It's cool to see how people are so excited that it's two girls They ask us, "Who do you work for?" and we tell them we're the owners. And they love it!

Some of the other things folks are gonna love are their fly street wear collection, newest hats and select kicks. Keep it up gals! And coming soon, FSF apparel on Sneakerbox Truck! Let's do this...

For more of the Sneakerbox back story, you can read our earlier post here.  You can also check them out on Facebook and Twitter (@sneakerboxtruck).  Or find them on the streets!

Independent Fashion meets Sneakers

Since sneakers wedges have taken the fashion world by storm, other fashion based  sneakers have been hitting up the internets hard. For starters  two women who have been creating their own fashion staples with their funky sunglasses and unique jewelry pieces have gotten some great sneaker collabs on the way. These two women are Kerin Rose of AMorir and Melody Ehsani.

Sunglasses and accessory designer Kerin Rose has recently dropped a dope sequined skytop sneaker with sneaker brand Supra. This hi-top defintly has that Kerin Rose flavor and I can see this being a hot sneaker for the upcoming fall season. These skytops are out now at Supra and Karmaloop.

Up next with a September 30th release is jewelry designer Melody Ehsani who collabed with Reebok for her very own sneaker. With snake skin, studs and different color lace options these sneakers are definetly unique and edgy. Just like Melody's jewelery pieces.

As stated, these will drop Sept 30th. Stockist info will be available at Melody Ehsani's blog. These are defintley great alternivates from the sneaker wedge trend for those who are into fashion. Even though for some these may not be for your taste, you have to give them credit for doing something different and not going to Nike for their collabs.

FSF at Kixpo in Dallas!

This past Saturday was Kixpo over in Dallas at Cowboy Stadium. Over 250 vendors, and too many to count through the door. I was excited to see what Dallas had to offer & even more excited to meet my FSF sister Jentastic (whom lives in Dallas). We managed to get a table to represent for the ladies and show off the badass Girls Got Kicks book! Jen even got to take a picture with one of the artist performing at show, Guilty Simpson. Huge shout out to the great crew from Kixpo! Check out some of the images of our display.

Props to the homie ZayaX0712 for all of the photos, check him out on youtube for a recap video!

Hype Kixx features Fetti D'Biasi aka "Sneaker Fairy"

Check out FSF's Fetti D'Biasi on the new sneaker channel, Hype Kixx. As always, she's telling the truth about her skills as a sneaker customizer and connoisseur! Leading up to her piece is a nice interview with the founder of Sneaker Pimps, Peter Fahey. Makes sense, since he's always been a friend of FSF... (and he's got a toddler female sneaker fiend of his own =)

Nice work Hype Kixx!
