Converse All-Star x Dr. Seuss!

Okay, who knows where Dr. Seuss is from? From nearby Springfield, Mass! He's one of the most famous celebs we have from Western Massachusetts. Now that the Eric Carle Museum is nearby, maybe I can hope for some Hungry Caterpillar kicks too.... But back to the topic at hand: Converse has come out with some super cute and creative Dr. Seuss All Stars! I love 'em! Just sad there aren't any Thing 1's in my size...

Thanks to nitrolicious for the pics!

Some of the cutest ones are gonna be too small even for the female sneaker fiends with size 4 feet! But grab those Thing 1s for me...

International Hip Hop Festival & Holland

I can't believe a week and a half has already passed since I got back from The Netherlands. I feel like it's actually taken that long to let the whole experience soak in. From start to finish, it was amazing. I'll never forget all the dope heads we met, the places we saw, the conversations we had. Every time I'm in a foreign country, I'm torn between 2 ways of experiencing it. #1 being as a Photographer - shooting non-stop and coming home with hundreds, sometimes thousands, of visuals to show my family and friends. #2 is the senses-all-in way. By this I mean, not looking at anything through a lens but only through my eyes and really, really soaking everything in.

On this particular trip, I was able to find a perfect balance. I came back to Toronto with some incredible memories - a lot of those really laugh-able ones. You know, when you're sitting on the subway or walking down the street and you get your L-O-L game up, just thinking about a particular conversation or something that happened. Mad shout-outs to my travel sisters, Lori and JenJen. xo

Let's get to the goods though, right? I've posted 102 shots in a public Facebook album that you are more than welcome to check out. These are some of my personal trip highlights. Everything from the food we ate to the ill fiends we rolled with.

Recommended listening: Jazzy Ivy, the Korean emcee/producer who hosted the World BBoy Classic.

Much love,
L

5 Boros AF1 Pack!!

No pics yet for Staten Island, but so far I like what I see! Especially my boro THE BRONX pack! Designed by DJ Clark Kent, each boro's design resembles a wool varsity jacket with a crazy colorway, circular patch of the boro on the heel, and the specific boro on the insoles. Each pair is available in each boro, so if you want the ones for The Bronx, hit up BX SPORTS..Queens, hit up FORMAT NYC..Manhattan, hit up WEST, as for Brooklyn, hit up OSNEAKER or I'm sure you can find these along the Fulton Mall downtown.

Puma's Project Pink initiative

Puma is teaming up with Women's Professional Soccer (WPS) to raise awareness of breast cancer through their new Project Pink initiative. Games will be played in the Project Pink unis, merchandise will be available for sale (100% of profits going to support the cause) and players will speak out on the impact of breast cancer. Launching July 31, PUMA is hosting a forum at wps.pumafootball.com/projectpink that invites interaction with the Project Pink initiative. The site allows for the nomination of breast cancer charities with nonprofit status; supporters can then log on to vote for the winner, who will ultimately receive a donation consisting of 100% of the profits from the sale of PUMA Project Pink product. The nomination period will open on August 7; voting will begin on September 13. The crowd favorite will be announced and the donation made in late October.

WPS teams including the Boston Breakers, Washington Freedom, FC Gold Pride, Philadelphia Independence, and Sky Blue FC have joined with PUMA to rally behind Project Pink, designating matches in July and August to help raise awareness for the cause. The home team will be wearing the Project Pink unis and the game will use the Project Pink ball...

Go Netherlands!

Ah, it's nice to be home, but what a great trip! Over 600 sneakers photographed, over 50 female sneaker fiend shoots, over 30 interviews, over 20 tram rides, over 10 sneaker boutiques, and 1 fabulous World BBoy Classic! Not to mention numerous new friends, broodjes, near accidents with bicycles and inside jokes with my fab travel companions--Jen Jen and Loni! Here are a few photos from my journey, with more below (and coming) from the real photographers...

Aruna Vermeulen, world-renowned bgirl and Director of Hip Hop Huis, at home with her considerable collection (250+)!

And her badass Keith Haring style bgirl porch!

Loni (left) and Jen Jen were ON IT the whole time! Those girls can shoot...

Typically home of symphony and "high art", this time The Doelen was home to the Sneaker Market and a hip hop State of Mind!

Speaking of a sweet sneaker market, it was cool to make it to No Boys Allowed, the female sneaker store in The Hague.

Here's me and Cim, the owner. Thanks for the sweatshirt!!

Not sneakers, but I did like this pair of Puma rollerskates

Sneaker graffiti in Amsterdam

Most people rode bikes, but this car was even smaller!

Sneaker Bandita's sick Air Max collection that she put on show at the FSF booth

Sneaker Sandy and a little piece of her 200+ collection. Yup, Girls Got Kicks!

Loni and Jen Jen team up for Kim's photoshoot!

Julius, our favorite tour guide (on left) with Jen Jen. Loni and 2 badass bboys and emcees from Korea!

A peek of our photobooth

We had a fabulous time! Special thanks to Aruna and Hip Hop Huis for making it all possible, Conchitta and Mariska for all the attention to detail, Kim and Sandy for putting up with us (and putting us up!), Julius for visiting us everywhere and all the female sneaker fiends who joined our photoshoot and interview booth!
