Kerin Rose and A-Morir

Kerin Rose is 24and the very talented creator of A-Morir clothing, who has also sponsored our birthday bash (your coming right? don't forget to RSVP!) she lives and works in Manhattan and she is "Married to the hustle." She hand prints all her designs so cross your fingers you are lucky enough to get one of her originals in your gift bag, or go to www.a-morir.com
Thanks Karin!!!
(photo's by TONE)

Where are you originally from?
Born in Manhattan, raised in the upper right hand corner of the subway map in Port Washington, Long Island.

When did you start a-morir and how did you come up with the name?
I've been making clothing for as long as I can remember, but a-morir has come to fruition within the past year. I got the name a-morir when I went to Madrid and saw Argentinan artist Miguel Angel Rios's "A Morir ('til Death)," a three screen video installation of 30 wooden spinning tops fighting 'til death. There's more to it, lets just say it made sense.

I love your photo shoots, where is that place, with all the white tiles and graffiti?
Haha, thanks! That was a crazy gonzo shoot I did in Williamsburg with my good friend, Dana - www.danaloia.com - Another friend of mine lives there - it used to be an old concert venue, and now it's an apartment! I've since done a beautiful studio shoot with TONE - www.photobytone.com - so I could show both the highbrow and grimier style of streetwear.

Where is your Day job, do you design for others as well?
I work at an alternative marketing firm during the day, it's a great place for my business and creative sides to coexist. As for other projects; most recently a good friend of mine commissioned me to paint him a Biggie as Buddha painting. Oh, and I'm also in a hip hop duo called SnatchWax.

What is your favorite a-morir print so far?
That's like deciding between my favorite Beatle (Ringo, FYI)!! I really do love them all, especially because they're all very different screens. I love the reaction to the "INDUSTRY" shirt the most; I worked in the music industry for 4 years, and have professionally tested the water of a few others. Nothing is tackier to me than people who care about what you do for a living, not what kind of a person you are. I made the first one about 3 years ago as a reaction to that, and people either get it and love it, or they have no clue.

Do you collect sneakers?
I'm a huge consumer of both streetwear and sneaker culture. I don't just collect sneakers, I collect shoes. And I wear every single pair! I have a handful of quality kicks that never fail to impress but I buy them for me. I just happen to have excellent taste. Pow!

what are your favorite pair?
It's a tie between my a-morir swarovski converse hi tops that i hand applied 2700 crystals to, or my Tiffany diamond dunks - because they're the same colorway as my apartment.

Anything you want us all to know about you and a-morir?
My first answer to this was a total ramble, so now I'm going to try and keep it short. I have always viewed fashion as an art form, and I intend on keeping a-morir as close to a hand made line as I can. Every shirt is hand screened, every dress and hat is hand sewn, making every piece your own unique piece of art. You'll love it 'till death. Also, I love reading books on cultural theory and history and eating cookies.

Any shout outs?
First to Jessica, aka YOSHI (who you may know formerly of Homeroom, currently of Fatlace) first and foremost for being a great friend, for believing in me, and hooking me up with this event. A shout out to Meme, Abi, and Noni, and to my best friends. And a shout out to everyone at Def Jux for making me an honorary member of the fam, especially when glitter is involved.

JEssica Tong and G rice Army

Jessica Tong Started G rice army and has sponsored our Birthday bash with G rice army jewelry. Cross your fingers that you get one in your gift bag on Monday! Check out Grice army at www.gricearmy.com all photos are by Travis Joseph and Avon B.

name, age, location, marital status, please?
Jessica Tong, 23, New York City, my marital status is not relevant that's too personal

Where are you originally from?
San Francisco

When did you start G rice army and how did you come up with the
name?

We started the winter of 2002 in Brooklyn, NY, and the name, well i can't give up all of our secrets...

how did you decide on the wicked little machine gun motif necklaces
you do (they will be in our gift bags!)?

It started with a school project that was to use articles in the mass media to inspire a design object as an excercise in illustrating the life of a product and lifestyle determination of the market. My article was on gun control, so it was a play on the militant state of the nation post 9-11. The m16 is an American Rifle used widely during the Korean and Vietnam Wars up to today and of my personal American favorites for accuracy and reliability.

Do you make all the jewelry yourself?
The paint is not acrylic. And yes all the jewelry is hand made, hand painted and hand drawn by me. Each unique to the lot of which it was produced and color alloted to the particular generation. All G. Rice Army Collection is one of a kind many are not for sale.

How did you get into blogging?
It was an easy way for my girlfriends and i, while away at school to keep in touch as well as share party photos from our reunions. As we grow up, tea party sundays turn into after school jobs that later become full time jobs and the most you get is an email or a text message here and there. Sisterhood never dies and the G. Rice Blog contributes to our staying connected.

Do you collect sneakers?
No, i like to wear them.

what are your favorite pair?
hmmm...black low chucks, black vans authentics and black and white vans checkered slip on's

Anything you want us all to know about you and G rice army?
Not really. If i know you, then you know.
The first rule of G. Rice is you don't talk about G. Rice.
The second rule of G. Rice is to not talk about the first rule.

Any shout outs?
The Queens of the G. Rice Army of Course. Brass Knuckles Ladies. Timeless.
Buddah, Mom and Dad and my brother Dolewhip the DoughBoy, Ice Cream Sandwiches, The Cure, C.O.D., Carbon Filters, O.J. Misfit AKA Misfit Dior

Misfit was brought to all of our attention when she had a breif stint on VH!'s The White Rapper show, but she has been making music since long before that. She lives actually down the street from me and i always see her pass and she always has on kicks. I ran in to her at a party and she agreed to let us in on her kick obsession, and what we can expect to hear from her in the near future. Thanks MIsfit!!! Check her out at on my space.
Where are you originally from in England?
I was born in the South, a city named Brighton, then moved an hour away to London...
Alltho I also spent time living in Ibiza (Baleric island near Spain!)

When did you get your first kicks (trainers!) and what were they?
The first sneakers I remember buyin were theJordan 2 & 3 in the all white with the red & black. They gon' be re-releasing these next march too, so I'm definitly gon' have to cop my some more!..I also remember my moms buyin me a pair of lilac Chuck taylor's when I was mad young!

When did you figure out you wanted to be a rapper and what artists had an influence on you when growing up in England?
There was something about Eazy E & NWA that really drew me in growin up, I was obviously growin up in totally different cicunstances than them but I loved the way they used they words so freely, and the contraversial attitude they had, it was something I hadn't heard before in music. I wanted to Rap from quite young, after learnin all they lyrics and spittin them in the mirror (yea a funny sight huh, this lil' white girl in England spittin "fuck the police" & "No matter jus don't bite it" lol) alltho I never thought seriously about it untill I met Proof.

How long have you been in New York?
I finally moved out here 4 years ago, living in nyc was something I talked about since, I think since I could actually talk!, lol.. I wish I had took the steps even earlier, but it was a big move to make and I had some ties back in London, with a Label I was signed to, but as soon as I got here I felt like I had came home!

Whats the biggest difference between the music scene in London and in New York?
I don't think there is a lot of difference, especially not in Hip Hop, peoples over there listen to the same shit as they do over here, and at tha same time..
London do have its own underground scene that's more on a "Grime" sound as they call it, I think UK Grime is a cross between Uk Garage and Rap, Artists like Dizze Rascal & So Sold Crew blew up from that. Because of my love for the US, I mainly focused on US Rap, alltho Definitly gotta give Props to my boys SAS (Dipset Euro) they doin they thing out there!

We all saw you on the White Rapper Show. How do you think being on the show affected your career?
I don't think it affected my career in any big way, aside from gaving me that extra exsposure I needed, I wasn't on the show long enough to really give a people a reason or a chance to make up they mind on my talent just based on a reality show.
But it gave me the oppertunity to now capture peoples attention enough for them to listen so what I really got poppin' off!
Everything I am doin now, I was doin before the show, its just now it is so much easier to have (people) stop and notice my movment and what I'm doing, so I'm glad I did the show.

Who is the most exciting person you have collaborated with?
obviuosly hands down Proof, workin with him on music, having his guidence and encouragment, I feel so blessed to have had him in my life for so long.

We saw you played at one of MOB parties, how did you meet the MOB crew?
I actually met Leah, thru a friend (K8) I love her shit, her shirts are Crazy! I had this one shirt they had me wear wit "That Bitch" on it, which caused some shit over another certain female on the show, the shit was hilarious!

Who are your favorite designers?
Haha that's so easy...Dior, Dior, Dior alllll day!..
(Alltho as far as sneakers ... its all about AF1 uptowns 4 me!)

What is your favorite accessory?
Shoes definitly, like most girl Ima mean shoe fanatic!... but I love all accessories, they really make an outfit

How much of your personal style is based on your kicks?
I would say about 95% up, as I always start with my footwear then work my outfit around that!
Shoes/sneakers make the outfit!!

How many pairs of kicks do have at the moment?
I'd say at a guess around 150 pairs... I'm still trying to get the rest shipped from the UK, they in storage at my moms!

Whats your favorite pair?
I gotta say these bright pink on pink snakeskin high tops I got at the Slauson Swap Meet, I never seen anybody with them since, ever!
Everytime I get out to LA, I have to go to the sawp meets in Slauson, Compton and Inglewood.. You can get the ill kicks out there u can't get in NY!

You have an Album dropping soon?
yes! Its half way done right now, alltho my single is ready, its called "my Dior" wit a B side "Paid a Grip" , my friend and video Director Scenario (who shot the latest Fabolous, Red Cafe, G Unit videos) is about to shoot my video for Paid a Grip, that's gon' be hot!

Any shout outs?
Yea, I wanna shout out you, Shanan 4 this interview!, my Team 'Crown Jewels' - Tre Little & Cha Cha. And Law, my Girls at Kitty Radio, Mike Shorey, Scenario,Princess from Crime Mobb, Juelz Santana, Paul Wall and Too Short! What up!

Check out her blog here

name, Age, occupation, Location, Marital status, PLease!?
MY BORN NAME IS JESSICA - SOME PEOPLE KNOW ME AS YOSHI (A HIGH SCHOOL NICKNAME
THAT STUCK), AND I'M 24 YEARS YOUNG. THE DAY TIME JOB: PRODUCER AT HEAVY.COM,
THE 24/7 JOB: FATLACE BUYER/DESIGNER, I LIVE IN BROOKLYN, AND I'M CURRENTLY OFF
THE MARKET =)

You are originally from San francisco, what made you move to nyc?
BORN AND RAISED IN SF! EVER SINCE I WAS YOUNG MY PARENTS WOULD BRING MY
SISTER AND I TRAVELLING ALL AROUND THE WORLD. I REMEMBER THE FIRST MAJOR CITY
THAT I VISITED WAS NY. I FELL IN LOVE WITH IT INSTANTLY, AND AT 13 I TOLD
MY MOM I'D MOVE THERE SOMEDAY. OF COURSE SHE LAUGHED, BUT I ALWAYS KNEW I'D END
UP HERE - IT WAS EITHER NY OR BACK TO EUROPE (NY WAS A MUCH CHEAPER CHOICE -- OR
WAS IT?! LOL)!

Since I have known you you have worked with so many people, can you
give us a quick work history?

HAHAHAHHAA - OOOOH BOY! TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH, I'M NOT QUITE SURE HOW I MANAGED
TO WORK WITH OR BE-FRIEND ALL THE PEOPLE AROUND ME! (ACTUALLY THAT'S A LIE HEHE)
I CAN TELL YOU THIS MUCH, IF YOU SHOW A TRUE PASSION AND A GENUINE CURIOUSITY,
IT SHOWS. I LIKE TO THINK THAT ANYONE JOE SCHMOE I MEET WILL SOMEHOW EFFECT MY
LIFE IN THE LONG RUN, SO WHY NOT MAKE IT WORTH YOUR WHILE?

MY FIRST "REAL" JOB AFTER GRADUATING WAS WORKING AT A HEDGEFUND - OH YES,
BUSINESS SUITS EVERYDAY. GREAT JOB! GREAT PAY! BUT I ALWAYS HAD A PASSION FOR
CULTURE AND FASHION. ONE DAY AT A PARTY, I MET ALEX FROM HOMEROOM CLOTHING. WE
GOT TO TALKING AND HE ASKED ME TO JOIN HIM WITH THE COMPANY. LOW AND BEHOLD, I
BECAME THE DESIGNER, SALES REP AND PR FOR THE LINE! I WAS ABLE TO NETWORK AND
MEET A TON OF GREAT PEOPLE OVER TIME.

AFTER A FEW MONTHS, I LEFT MY JOB IN SF AND MOVED TO NY TO GET MY LIFE GOIN... I
GOT A JOB AT HEAVY AS A PRODUCER FOR MY FULL-TIME GIG WHILE STILL MANAGING TO DO
HOMEROOM WHILE ON THE EAST COAST. I RECENTLY DEPARTED WAYS WITH HOMEROOM AND
HAVE NOW CONCENTRATED MOST OF MY TIME BUYING FOR THE FATLACE STORE. I'M ALSO
CURRENTLY STARTING TO DESIGN THE FATLACE WOMEN'S LINE - SO KEEP AN EYE OUT
LADIES! I'VE ALSO DONE A LOT OF SIDE JOBBIES, LIKE DISTRIBUTING IDEAS,
CONSULTING, PR FOR MANY OTHER COMPANIES THAT I HAVE STRONG TIES WITH. I ALWAYS
TRY TO GIVE BACK TO THOSE WHO HAVE GIVEN ME SO MUCH =)

Currently you are the buyer for FATlACE in SF. Are there any upcoming
impressive lines that we should know about?

ALL OF THE BRANDS WE'LL BE CARRYING OR ARE CURRENTLY CARRYING ARE WELL RESPECTED
BRANDS THROUGHOUT THE WORLD. WE'RE TRYING TO REACH OUT TO ALL KINDS OF
CONSUMERS, NOT JUST STREETWEAR FOLKS. FROM RACERS/DRIFTERS, FIXED GEAR
RIDERS, TO THE AVERAGE GAP CUSTOMER, I THINK FATLACE HAS ROOTED ITS STAY FOR THE
LONG RUN.

AS FAR AS THE FATLACE HOUSE LINES, MARK AND HIS TEAM, ALONG WITH MYSELF, HAVE
BEEN COOKING UP NEW IDEAS THAT YOU'LL SEE SOON. MARK IS AN AWESOMELY CREATIVE
GENIUS! I'M SO GLAD TO BE ABLE TO WORK WITH THE FATLACE TEAM, THEY'VE PROVEN TO
WITHSTAND THE CHAOS OF WHAT IS KNOWN TO BE STREET CULTURE - GOING ON 8 YEARS
WITH THEIR INNOVATION AND CREATIVITY.

How did you first find out about FSF?
OH WOW! I REMEMBER! IT WAS WHEN I FIRST CHECKED OUT THE WEEKLY DROP POD CAST
SITE (WHO EVER KNEW THAT I'D BECOME GREAT FRIENDS WITH THESE GUYS?!)! THIS WAS
BACK WHEN I WAS STILL LIVING IN SF (WORKING AT A HEDGEFUND, SNEAKING A PEEK AT
RANDOM SITES DURING MY DOWN TIME). THIS WAS TOWARD THE END OF 2005/BEGINNING OF
'O6 IS WHEN I FIRST LANDED ON WD - BACK THEN I REMEMBER ONLY SEEING A HANDFUL OF
INTERVIEWS INCLUDING JEFF STAPLE (WHO LATER BECAME MY WEEK-END BOSS LOL) AND
LORI. WHEN I SAW THE CLASSIC PIC "DON'T SLEEP ON THE LADIES" I KNEW I HIT THE
GOLD MINE! AFTER THAT, I STARTED CHATTING ON FORUMS, EVEN TOOK LORI ON A SMALL
SNEAKER TOUR OF SF WHEN SHE VISITED 2 YEARS AGO! FROM THEN ON, WE REMAINED IN
CLOSE TIES - I TRY TO HELP HERE AND THERE WHENEVER SHE REACHES OUT, GOTTA KEEP
SUPPORTING THE LADIES!

How long have you been obsessed with kicks?
EVER SINCE I THINK I WAS IN THE 2ND OR 3RD GRADE. MY DAD WORKED AT THE
SHOE DEPT AT MERVYN'S - A RETAIL STORE MUCH LIKE JC PENNEY'S OR A CLASSIER
TARGET, SO HE'D ALWAYS HOOK IT UP WITH THE NEWEST LA GEARS. I
SLOWLY GOT INTO THE NIKE/REEBOK GAME WHEN MY COUSIN KYLE BROUGHT HOME HIS FIRST
PAIR OF REEBOK PUMPS. THEN I'D TAKE ALL HIS HAND ME DOWN KICKS, INCLUDING SOME
FORCES - WHICH BEGAN MY NIKE RUN =)

You practically made the homeroom blog, and now you have the fatlace
blog, an upcomign events you are covering on the blog?

HMMMM... HAHA! YEA, I WAS AN AVID HOMEROOM BLOGGER - IT WAS A BIT SCARY AT FIRST
BECAUSE I DIDN'T KNOW WHO WOULD BE READING AND WHY ANYONE WOULD BE INTERESTED!
BUT AFTER A WHILE, I GOT MORE COMFORTABLE PUTTING RANDOM THOUGHTS OR RANDOM
EVENTS OUT THERE FOR THE PUBLIC TO VIEW. I REALLY DON'T KNOW HOW MANY PEOPLE
EVEN READ THAT STUFF, JUST KEPT TYPING AWAY HAHA! I LIKE TO THINK MY LIFE IS
PRETTY ENTERTAINING (MAYBE JUST TO MYSELF), CONSIDERING MY VARYING INTERESTS IN
BIKING, SKATING, FASHION AND JUST GOOD FUN WITH THE MOST ECLECTIC BUNCH OF FRIENDS!

AS FAR AS UPCOMING EVENTS, I'LL BE GOING TO VEGAS FOR THE TRADESHOWS AGAIN
(ALWAYS A STRESSFUL TIME) AND WILL PROVIDE COVERAGE OF COURSE - VIA FATLACE AND
RIOTTT. HOPEFULLY I'LL GET TO SHOW THOSE INTERESTED ENOUGH TO READ MY BLOGS THE
"INDUSTRY" THROUGH MY GOGGLES - ER PERSPECTIVE???

Are you involved in any upcoming exciting projects or collaborations?
I HAVE A FEW COLLABORATIONS IN MIND FOR THE UPCOMING SEASONS, THOSE ARE STILL
DEFINITELY IN THE WORKS, BUT I'LL KEEP YOU POSTED! THE FATLACE LADIES' LINE IS
BEGINNING ITS PROCESS, SLOWLY, BUT SURELY. NOW THAT I HAVE A BIT MORE CREATIVE
FREEDOM, I HOPE THAT I'LL DO SOME GOOD LOOKS FOR US!

It seems like you know everyone and are at all the good events. what
characteristic about yourself do you most contribute this too?

AWWW! REALLY?? I LIKE TO THINK I'M PRETTY APPROACHABLE, PRETTY LAID BACK AND
LIKE TO HAVE A GOOD TIME. I ALSO REALLY LIKE MEETING NEW PEOPLE AND BEING ABLE
TO INTRODUCING THESE NEW PEOPLE TO MY FRIENDS AS WELL, YOU NEVER KNOW WHAT CRAZY
OUTCOME A MEET AND GREET WILL GET! A LOT OF THE TIME I END UP BECOMING THE BUTT
OF EVERYONE'S JOKES, BUT TO ME, I'D RATHER HAVE PEOPLE LAUGHING (WITH??) ME THAN
TALKING SHIT ABOUT ME.

Whats your all time favorite kick you own?
MY JORDAN 1'S THAT I GOT AS A GIFT FROM MY FLOMIE "LEONARD'O'"...

Whats your all time favorite sneaker you wish you owned?
OH WOWZA! I WISH I HAD... UHMMM THE BLACK AND BLUE JORDAN 1'S HAHAHAHAHAHA! OH
AND MAYBE ALL OF THE TIGER/ONITSUKA LINE =) SOOOO COMFY!

How many sneakers do you have in your collection at the moment?
WELL HERE WITH ME IN BK I THINK I HAVE, DAMN, NOT THAT MANY AS COMPARED TO HARD
CORE SNEAKER CHICKS - I THINK I HAVE AT LEAST 50 PAIRS HERE IN NY. MY PARENTS
HAD TO SHIP SOME OF MY SHOES TO ME IN 3 HUGE BOXES AFTER I MOVED. I REALIZED IN
MY FIRST APT I DIDN'T HAVE ENOUGH ROOM, SO I HAD TO SHIP BACK A BOX - SO BACK
HOME IN SF I THINK I HAVE ANOTHER 30-40 PAIRS. EEK! BUT I WILL SAY THAT I LIKE
MY COLLECTION OF KICKS. THEY RANGE FROM ADIDAS, ASICS, NIKE, REEBOKS, PUMAS,
CONVERSE, VANS AND OH YES, KMART BRAND HEHEHEHEH!

What is your favorite local shop?
I SPEND A LOT OF MY TIME AT DQM (BY DEFAULT SINCE MY OTHER HALF WORKS THERE),
THE REEDSPACE (ANOTHER DEFAULT SINCE I USED TO WORK THERE), BUT SUGARHEAD
QUARTERS TOO - BECAUSE THAT CREW IS AWWWWWEEEESOME!

Who do you admire most living or dead?
I'D OF COURSE LIKE TO SAY MY PARENTS AND GRANDPARENTS - BOTH BECAUSE IF IT
WEREN'T FOR THEIR SUPPORT AND NEVERENDING NAGGING TO PUSH ME TO BE "SOMEONE,"
I'D HAVE NEVER BEEN ABLE TO GET MY DEGREE (IN POLITICS - GO FIGURE LOL), LIVE
ABROAD, TRAVEL THE WORLD, AND BECOME AN INDIVIDUAL WHO WON'T
SETTLE FOR LESS AND WHO HAS MUCH RESPECT FOR HARD WORK AND GOOD PEOPLE. BUT OF
COURSE, THEY'D STILL LOOOOOOOVE TO SEE ME WITH AN "ATTY" IN FRONT OF MY NAME OR
WORKING FOR THE U.N.

What music have you been feeling lately?
I REALLY LIKE LISTENING TO T.I. - OR IS IT T.I.P.(P?) - ESPECIALLY WHEN I'M
RIDING MY BIKE!

Whats the most important thing you want fsf readers to know about you?
I'M A VERY EASY GOING PERSON, DON'T BE SHY TO SAY HELLO IF YOU SEE ME
AROUND! OH, I WANT A PUPPY - LET ME KNOW IF YOU KNOW ANY PUPPIES FOR SALE OR
RESCUE OR ADOPTION! (I'D PREFER A SMALLER DOG) HAHAHAHAHA

BUT ON A MORE SERIOUS NOTE, I WASN'T ABLE TO BE WHERE I AM TODAY WITHOUT HAVING
THE PASSION OR DRIVE TO SUCCEED AT ANYTHING I DO - DESPITE RACE, GENDER, OR AGE
YOU CAN DO IT ALL, JUST DON'T SIT AROUND AND WAIT FOR IT TO COME TO YOU, GO OUT
AND CHASE IT!

Whats your favorite food?
NOW THIS IS AN EASY ONE - FOR THOSE OF YOU WHO KNOW ME, YOU KNOOOOOOW I
ABSOLUTELY LOVE DESSERT - COLD STONE'S CHEESECAKE FANTASY WITH BROWNIES - TRY
IT, YOU'LL FALL IN LOVE... OH AND BASKIN ROBIN'S OR CARVEL'S ICE CREAM CAKES!!!!!

Whats the most important thing you want everyone to know about FSF?
FSF IS DEFINITELY A STRONG COMMUNITY THAT REACHES OUT TO EVERYONE, NOT ONLY
LADIES, BUT EVERYONE, TO HELP LET THE WORLD KNOW THAT WE TOO CAN DISH OUT A MEAN
COLLECTION OF KICKS - AND TO NEVER EVER EVER "SLEEP ON THE LADIES."

Anything else you want to say??
UHMMMMMM..... DON'T FORGET TO CHECK UP ON FATLACE! THANK YOU SHANAN, DNYCE, AND
LORI FOR EVERYTHING - I'M SO GLAD TO HAVE MET ALL YOU LADIES AND PLEASE CONTINUE
TO SPREAD THE WORD AND FSF LOVE!

For those of you ladies who haven't seen this ongoing MTV Yo Raps collaboration with Puma, you don't want to miss all this lush creativity and hat-tipping to the good old days of exaggeration and style! All this is dropping Sept. 15th, world wide, and I'm working on getting you word on the smallest sizes too...

First, a peak at the MC Shan collection:

Next a bit of Doug E. Fresh

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet. Now let's close our eyes and pray for small sizes...

Don't get it twisted

For the record I would like to explain a few key points about FSF, who we are, and our mission.
This year we have branched out and people are now finding out about us in various ways, not just from our forums.
The forums are how we started. Our goal was to create a positive community for females into sneakers to meet each other and build. We set up a registered nonprofit organization called Femalesneakerfiend.com. This was started by Lori lobenstein a boston resident dedicated to work of the social improvement type. She is constantly writing grants and coming up with ways to help youth and community in a positive way whether it be starting organizations like FSF or coaching basketball.
Femalesneakerfiends is about building a community. It starts with a sneakerhead, and then branches out natuarally into fashion, and art, journalism and other creative and sporting endeavors. Our aim is to bring like minded people together so they can positively influence each other. Recently other female oriented websites have viewed us as competition. While it is true that many people in the "industry" are highly competitive, and solely out to make money and a name for themselves, FSF is one organization that is not. Everything we accomplish, from forum moderation to blogs, t-shirts to dunk exchange tables, events to web redesign, flyer promotion to interviews and articles is done through grassroots volunteers and thanks to thier love of sneakers and of FSF. We reach out to other organizations solely to broaden and enrich the female community we have already created in the last two years. We are not here to compete with anybody's shine, to compete with any bodys plans, or to compete for anybodies clients, we are here to help you shine brighter. We understand this may be hard to believe, in a culture where everyone is out to make a buck and much of what can be accomplished depends on who you are or who you know. but we like to think we have proven over the last two years that our only goal is to spread some love.

crash and burn!

so I wanted to say sorry for not posting much this week,,, A crazy thing happened to me , I got hit by a car!!!!
I was walking at a cross walk and a car stopped for me and as I was walking in front of him, he got rear ended and subsequently crashed into me! the rearender was an off duty cop! anyway I had a really fun half block ride on the hood of a car, but it turns out I am completely fine,,, just a little bit shocked. my message to you is look both ways and then look past the first car to the second, and drivers be careful!!!!!
